Yuya Kondo, Yamaha rider in the All Japan Superbikes, lost his life following a fatal accident during a private test in Okayama.

The Japanese motorcycle world is in mourning due to the untimely death of Yuya Kondo. A driver under direct contract with Yamaha, this 26-year-old native of Chiba prefecture lost his life following a fatal accident on March 13 in Okayama.

He remained in intensive care for two weeks and on Tuesday morning, March 26, he was pronounced dead at 9:47 a.m. Due to the family's wishes, the news was only revealed yesterday.

Yuya Kondo made his debut in All Japan ST600 (Supersport) in 2009, taking the first victory at Suzuka in 2015. During the following season, the young Japanese rider signed a direct contract with Yamaha as a test rider for the Suzuka 8 Hours and JSB1000 programs.

Alongside the role of test rider for the Yamaha factory, Kondo competed in the Suzuka 8 Hours, winning the Superstock class in 2017 with a Yamaha R1 fielded by the ITO Racing GMD. This year, Yuya Kondo was to continue his involvement in the All Japan Superbike, still with a GBS Racing R1.

During a private test in Okayama, Kondo was the unfortunate protagonist of a fatal accident. His condition seemed desperate from the first moments. The funeral, announced by his family, will take place on Tuesday April 9 in Funabashi.
