All things considered, riding a KTM in Moto3 will not have been just a handicap this year. This manufacturer only won one Grand Prix in 2017, at Mugello, but this performance allowed Andrea Migno, driver of Sky Racing Team VR46, to win the “Dunlop #ForeverForward Award” for the most prolific doubler of the season.

For his national Grand Prix, Andrea Migno qualified on the fifth row of the starting grid, with the thirteenth time almost a second (0.947) behind pole sitter Jorge Martin. He moved up to second place on the seventh lap, dropped from eleventh to thirteenth, went first to fifteenth, then ninth to eighteenth, and won the race at the end of the twentieth. In total, this made an interesting number of places gained.

This is how Andrea Migno won Dunlop Forever Forward 2017, a trophy which rewards the rider in the Moto2 or Moto3 category who has won the most positions in a race over a season. Dunlop, tire supplier to Moto2 and Moto3, launched this Championship three years ago, which awards a point for each overtake carried out in all 18 races on the calendar. The first edition was won by Philipp Öttl, the second by rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Andrea Migno is therefore the third winner. The Italian has also beaten the record established by his predecessors with his 137 points (compared to 132 for Philipp Öttl and 113 for Fabio Di Giannantonio), the Italian Grand Prix being the event during which his counter will have the more grown up.

Xavier Fraipont, Managing Director, Dunlop Motorcycle and Motorsport:

“We introduced this #ForeverForward trophy in the spirit of rewarding the best actions in Moto2 and Moto3. Andrea has shown courage and determination with some nice comebacks under her belt this season. Moto3 races are very competitive. Overtaking must be precise and Andrea has been recognized for his skill and intuition. »
