The cycling race organizer Unipublic, which manages the Spanish Vuelta but also the Tour de France and the Italian Giro, announced that it was studying the possibility of removing hostesses and their kisses to the winner on the podium of the next tour of Spain .

A tradition as old as the races themselves, but which Iberian lobbyists are trying to undermine, like in MotoGP where the task will undoubtedly be made even easier for them by the somewhat degrading tradition of dousing the hostesses with champagne...

Javier Guillen, director of Unipublic: “We are sensitive to the social and media debate that has been generated in recent months on the presence of podium hostesses.
In Australia, the presence of podium girls has already been removed, as in other races in Spain. We are not able to ignore these concerns and, therefore, we will incorporate some changes in the next Vuelta. We will make some adjustments. We are still working. What we do will always be done elegantly.
Personally, I wouldn't change anything because the presence of the hostesses has never led to anything extravagant. We have always been very respectful, but I understand that there are sensitivities in this regard.
We are always analyzing the possibilities. What we decide will be visible at the start of the Vuelta, in Nîmes on August 19. »
