Getting hit at the start of a race and consequently falling has never made anyone happy. But when it's also by his teammate, there's reason to get angry. Scott Redding thus emptied his bag after the Aragon Grand Prix.

During the first lap, the Briton was hit by his Italian teammate in turn 12, which sounded the death knell for the Pramac Ducati team. Redding finished 19e and last after restarting following his fall, while Danilo Petrucci finished antepenultimate after being penalized with a ride through (passage through the pit lane, at 60 km/h).

"We've had a few close encounters, but this isn't the first time he's knocked someone down or someone has complained about him because he's dangerous, Redding noted. He attacks very late and very deep, like with Laverty at the Red Bull Ring. This overtaking was completely impossible, and it was the same m… as today.

“For me drivers can be close in competition, and you can have contact, but when you crash someone, it's too much. Of course he's going to say he had a problem, because he's not going to admit he made a mistake. If you have an engine braking problem, then you take a bit of a step back, especially like there in the first lap of the race. Yes, he was penalized, but twice in five races that means something ».

Petrucci would later explain that the contact was caused by an engine braking problem which made it difficult to judge the correct corner entry speed. He was very apologetic after the race, admitting that the fault was his. “ I feel sorry for him, and I'm not making excuses. It was my fault. I don't know why he fell on the curb while he was spinning, but I'm really sorry. This is the second time this year, and this has never happened to me before. He's very angry, and he's right to be because I ruined his race. »
