As a prelude to the Asian tour, a test day took place yesterday at the Motorland Aragon circuit for Moto2 and Moto3.
Moto2 :
In addition Sam Lowes of which you can find the
report here, the teams were present Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS with
Alex Marquez and Franco Morbidelli,
Galicia Star 0,0 with the winner of the race the day before, Jorge Navarro, Garage Plus Interwetten, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, Ajo Motorsport, Dynavolt Intact GP, QMMF Racing Team, Gaviota Mahindra Aspar, Sky VR46, Ongetta-Rivacold, Peugeot MC Saxoprint
et CIP-Unicom Starker, among others.
The sensation took place when Johann Zarco rode the 2 Ktm Moto2017 all dressed in black, but no information leaked from this test, except that the French pilot experienced a minor fall without seriousness.
Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) and Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) were able to try out the new chassis Kalex 2017, plus two new swingarms. Kalex not having brought any other chassis parts for the other teams, the latter had to content themselves with working on their settings and on new forks made available by Öhlins, as well as on a harder front tire supplied by Dunlop in view of the next Malaysian Grand Prix on the Sepang circuit, the surface of which has been redone.
The pilots Dynavolt Intact GP, Sandro Cortese and Jonas Folger, tried new brakes Nissin, after Cortese had already evaluated them in the post-race test in Brno.
At Tech3 Racing, Xavi Verge worked on a new chassis, swingarm and shock absorber KYB, since the French team made the decision to remain loyal to them and not to buy a Kalex chassis.
Xavi Verge : “I am very positive after this test; we have really taken some good steps forward and that makes me confident for the future. Isaac didn't come today, so that meant I could use both Moto2s, which definitely helped as I was able to try a lot of new things and progress quicker than usual. I gathered a lot of information and we also found a solution to the problem that had hampered me in the last races, and we also obtained some essential data for next year. The feeling after the test today was much better than after yesterday, the Tech3 team worked hard, as always, and I know that if I can continue this way, then for sure I will achieve my goals. »
Moto3 :
Like certain Moto2 teams, some Moto3 teams were able to try the ktm 2017, new forks Öhlins and a small modification to the rear shock absorber.
The team Galicia Star 0,0 had three motorcycle configurations in the box to refine the stability settings when braking and especially when entering corners, as well as testing parts for 2017. Jorge Navarro and Arón Canet took on the task of doing this comparative work which paid off since the latter lowered its reference time by 2 tenths.
At Ongetta-Rivacold, Niccolo Antonelli was working to try to resolve a top speed deficit seen during the Grand Prix.
I wish the entire Sky VR46 lined up Lorenzo Dalla Porta, newly established, to make him do miles alongsideAndrea Migno. Nicholas Bulega preferred to abstain, following a fall during the race.
Mahindra had a busy schedule after their recently celebrated 100th GP at Misano, with an engine upgrade for 2017, and a new swingarm.
Pecco Bagnaia : “We tried various new things for the bike today, like a new engine, and the times are good. These are all updates for next year, and it's unlikely we'll get any of these updates before the end of this season. They are doing a good job but it must continue unabated. »
At Peugeot MC Saxoprint, we had replaced Albert Arenas and John McPhee by Aleix Viu and Patrik Pulkkinen, coming from the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and Dakota Mamola and Vicente Perez.
In the team CIP-Unicom Starker, Tatsuki Suzuki was trying the 2017 Mahindra engine.
