Moto3 was the only category to benefit from a dry track on Friday morning. As soon as the checkered flag was presented, the rain appeared for MotoGP and persisted for Moto2. In the afternoon, the air temperature was 16° and the track temperature was 21°. The rain had stopped during the lunch break

The arrival of Andrea Migno was announced at Aspar. He was replaced within the Sky VR46 Racing Team by Dennis Foggia. The best time to beat set in the morning was 1'59.114 by Aron Canet.

At the start of the session, there were still traces of humidity on the track and all the drivers who set off (five, in fact) did so on wet tires. Marco Ramirez was the first to put on slicks with half an hour to go, soon followed by Nicolo Bulega. Only six drivers then raced, including Jules Danilo fifth. The times were above 2'10, so without much significance.

Dennis Foggia was the first to go under 2'10 with 23 minutes remaining, in 2'09.8. Marco Ramirez succeeded him, improving significantly in 2'06.9. Thirteen drivers were riding at the time. Jules Danilo was twelfth.

Tony Arbolino set the best time in 2'02.248. Aron Canet took over in 2'00.167. We were getting closer to the times achieved in the morning. Jules Danilo was nineteenth. Joan Mir took the lead in 1'59.945, the first time under two minutes. But his time was canceled for having exceeded the circuit limits. Aron Canet replaced him in command in 1'59.742.

Under the checkered flag, Joan Mir took the lead in 1'59.586 ahead of Aron Canet, Enea Bastianini, Ayumu Sasaki, Niccolo Antonelli, Jorge Martin, Marco Bezzecchi (Alain Bronec's CIP team) and Romano Fenati.
