After managing to take the lead at the start of the last lap, World Championship leader Joan Mir tried to widen the gap on his pursuers to be able to win by a small margin. But his tactic didn't work, and he found himself at the start of the long straight with Fabio di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini right behind him.

Mir then found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with his two opponents ready to overtake him on the slipstream. He then decided to zigzag all along the straight line to prevent them from passing, which was dangerous.

He was therefore summoned after the podium by the jury, now called the “FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel” where he was informed that his action contravened article 1.21.2 of the Grand Prix regulations, which specifies that “ Drivers must ride in a responsible manner that does not cause danger to other competitors or participants, on the track or in the pit lane. »

After being heard, Mir was sanctioned with a drop of six positions on the starting grid for the next Grand Prix. His result from Aragon is confirmed, and he retains all his points in the World Championship.
