The French driver was 23rd overall in the first two #AragonGP practice sessions. Rain was among the protagonists of the first day of testing for the Aragón Grand Prix. Precarious conditions therefore awaited Loris Baz at the start of the opening session. Cautious, the Haut-Savoyard only completed six laps of the Iberian route, preferring to preserve his tire allocation and not take unnecessary risks.

In the afternoon, despite a track that was still wet in places, Baz managed to improve by almost two seconds. Ranked 23rd in the combined ranking, the Habs were only 2.8 seconds behind the reference time recorded by Dani Pedrosa. But he intends to take advantage of the return of the sun on Saturday to try to gain his place in Q2.

Loris Baz:

“It’s been a bit of a strange day. The rain having appeared a few minutes before the first session, we had to configure the bike. We didn't have much interest in riding this morning. We instead focused our efforts on FP2, but the conditions were mixed; the track changed with each pass.

“In the wet I felt comfortable and managed to get into the top ten. On the other hand, when the asphalt began to dry, my tires overheated slightly on the straight ends, a phenomenon which tended to cause me to lose the rear when braking. Despite everything, I gathered information that could prove valuable for future tests.

“The weather looks good on Saturday, so I'm not worried. The third practice session, however, promises to be tough, but I think I can do well. Everything will depend on how our bike behaves from our first laps. If we manage to get into the rhythm without delay, I think we can go straight to Q2. »
