After fracturing his tibia and fibula while training ahead of the Misano Grand Prix, Valentino rode this week on Monday and Tuesday to assess his fitness and strength. The bone, reinforced by a large metal tube, is sufficiently strong, but on the other hand there is a lack of muscular strength, and the pain is very present.

Yamaha has therefore planned Michael van der Mark (second last weekend in World Superbike at Portimao) to possibly replace him in Aragon. But Rossi still has a chance to be World Champion this year, and at his age he has no intention of letting it pass, even if it means suffering on the bike in Aragon.

According to Valentino Rossi, “ Luckily, this Tuesday, I had a good test session with my YZF-R1M in Misano. I had also tried the day before, but the rain put an end to my riding after a few laps.

“I was able to complete 20 laps yesterday and find the answer to the question I was asking myself. The test ultimately went well and I would like to thank Dr. Lucidi and his team who helped me find the best possible solution in order to feel the least pain in my leg while riding.

“Obviously, after this test, I was in slight pain, but this morning I visited Dr. Pascarella for an examination and the results came back positive. So I decided to go to Aragón to try racing my M1 this weekend.

“If I am declared fit to ride, then I will have a real answer during the first session, because driving the M1 is a much higher challenge. We will see. See you in Aragón! »
