After having missed his debut during the French Grand Prix of Moto2, Tony Arbolino grabbed positions in the peloton to reach the finish in eighth place. Coming off his bike, the Marc VDS rider assured that he had found the form which allowed him to fight for podiums last year.
The first of 22 laps of Tony Arbolino's French Grand Prix did not go as planned. Starting 10th, the Italian missed his start, which caused him to lose many places. At the end of the first pass, he was in 17th position, but had not said his last word.
Showing notable determination, Arbolino defeated his competitors one by one. In total, the Marc VDS driver got the best of seven of his opponents, to take the checkered flag 6.8 seconds from the lead.
Displaying an excellent pace throughout the entire event, the main concerned had some regrets about having missed his takeoff, but his performance gives him good hope for the future.
“It was a very good race. It's a shame to begin with. I didn't start well because I had a little problem with the clutch, he explains. But from there, I gained positions lap after lap and I had a very good pace. I felt so fast.
To be honest, I even felt as fast as last year, when I was making podiums, continues Arbolino. It is a very good thing. The bike ran great. The guys have been working like crazy these last few weeks and I can tell you now that hard work pays off. This means a lot to me and I think our moment is about to arrive! »
It remains to be seen whether the driver who already has six victories and thirteen podiums in the intermediate class will be able to continue his momentum, in order to regain success.
