It was with more than half a second in advance that the leader of the World Championship managed to win in the second free practice session, as he had done in the first, ahead of Romano Fenati, Nicolo Bulega, John McPhee, Niccolo Antonelli and Juanfran Guevara.

All time lap record 1'48.461 Oliveira 2015

For this second session, the time to beat established by Joan mir in the first was 1'51.559. We could expect a clear improvement, the MotoGP then Moto2 sessions having improved the grip of the track, while the temperature had reached 27° for the air and 36° for the asphalt. The cleaning of the trajectory and the deposit of rubber created favorable circumstances. Jules Danilo, absent from the first session due to gastroenteritis, participated in the second, but of course in poor form.

A huge group formed as soon as they left the stands and Roman Fenati took the best time in 1'52.488. Everyone seemed very motivated and Fenati accelerated in 1'51.308, already faster than in the first session as soon as the second lap started. He preceded Jorge Martin by 0.2, and by 0.4 Marcos Ramirez, Juanfran Guevara and Andrea Cute. Jules Danilo was in thirtieth position at 3.2. It was getting closer to 2.5.

Philipp Oettl, moderately comfortable in the first session with the fifteenth time, climbed into the top 10. His fall in Qatar, when he involuntarily caused Juanfran Guevara to fall, perhaps encouraged him to show a little restraint. Midway through the session, many riders continued with the same hard-rear Dunlops they had used at the start of the session, preferring to wait a little longer before switching to the mediums. This allowed Romano Fenati to retain command.

Joan mir came within 0.05 of the Italian. Livio Law, led by his teammate Mir, moved up to seventh position. Aron canet, although brilliant in Qatar, was only in nineteenth place. John mcphee, one of the first to put on medium tires at the front and rear, took the best time in 1'50.940, followed shortly after by Niccolo Antonelli at 0.1. Jules Danilo was the first to complete 10 laps, which was a good sign for his health.

Most of the peloton returned to the track about 8 minutes from the checkered flag. Many were shod with medium tires front and back. Some did not like the soft front and therefore continued with the same medium front, but a new rear medium. Who would be the first to go below 1'50?

Roman Fenati improved the best time to 1'50.812, and Joan mir progressed a few meters behind him in 1'50.686. On the next lap, Mir took advantage of Juanfran Guevara's slipstream in the straight and passed in 1'50.248, 0.5 ahead of Romano Fenati.

Joan Mir finished this second session in the lead, ahead of Romano Fenati, Nicolo Bulega, John McPhee, Niccolo Antonelli and Juanfran Guevara. Jules Danilo ranked twenty-third at 1.7, a very honorable performance considering the circumstances.
