The day promised to be the best in terms of weather, with around 18° and no risk of precipitation. On this Sunday morning, before the first machines entered the track, the temperature of the asphalt was also 18°. It was slightly warmer last year, with 22° and 24° during the warm up, and 23° and 27° for the Moto3 race, but a lot of humidity. A rain flag was displayed at the pit exit at the start of warm up, without anyone understanding the reason. Flag error?
Albert Arenas, who had fallen heavily the day before, suffered from pain in his left hand but was able to run. Darryn binder was the fastest during the first laps in 1'51.562. Riders made their choice between the hard Dunlop and the medium rear. The hard surface seemed preferred for safety reasons, but several competitors rode during this warm-up with a medium already used the day before to assess their endurance.
Philipp Oettl took the lead in 1'51.014, 2 seconds off the lap record. This unimpressive pace was perhaps caused by the relatively cool temperature. John McPhee, the man from pole position, progressed in 1'50.453. Jules Danilo was twenty-ninth.
Finally, John McPhee finished the warm up session with the fastest time ahead of Niccolo Antonelli, Andrea Migno, Jorge Martin, Darryn Binder, Livio Loi and Joan Mir. Jules Danilo ranked twenty-eighth.
