The driver of the FlexBox HP 40 team from Sito Pons wins another victory on the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit and consolidates his lead in the championship after a very intelligent race.
The weekend, however, started less well for the Spanish team, world champions in 2013 with Pol Espargaró. On the one hand, Augusto Fernández withdrew after fracturing his arm on Saturday at the wrist, on the other hand Lorenzo Baldassarri made a mistake in his qualifying lap and had to settle for 8th position on the starting grid.
Lorenzo Baldassarri: « Tomorrow we will start from eighth position, which is not bad, but we could have done better. When I did my best lap, I made a mistake and that prevented me from being in the top 5. Too bad, but it has no impact since we have the pace to fight for victory tomorrow . It was also an unusual session, with Augusto's injury, to whom I wish a speedy recovery. Be strong my friend!
Slightly frustrated with this eighth position on the grid, Lorenzo Baldassarri nevertheless remained confident of being able to fight for the leading positions, convinced that he was fast enough. And he was right!
Author of a good start, the Italian driver who won in Qatar immediately gained three places before closing the first lap in 4th position. There, he waited patiently, watching his opponents fight among themselves, before making his effort from the 15th round. One by one, he then overtook his three comrades until reaching the first position 4 laps from the checkered flag, before crossing the finish line with more than a second in advance.
The winner of the Qatar Grand Prix did a race in Argentina that can be considered a textbook case, analyzing the competition and attacking when he had to.
Lorenzo Baldassarri: “I am very happy with this victory and, after the good start in Qatar, it was important to confirm the good work we are doing. The weekend wasn't easy, but I was sure I could have a good race. Thanks to the team for their good work, as well as to the sponsors. I would also like to wish Augusto a good recovery. We are good friends, he goes very fast and I want him back on the track as soon as possible.”
With this 4th career victory, the 2nd in a row, the VR46 Riders Academy rider strengthens his lead in the championship and changes the way his opponents look at him...
