After impressing the MotoGP paddock without being able to really make a mark in Qatar, Fabio Quartararo had to confirm his level of performance on an Argentinian circuit that he never really appreciated and on which he had not carried out any testing.

Mission accomplished for the youngest of the field who finished the Grand Prix in 8th position after having almost always appeared in the top 10, whether during the various practice sessions or during the race.

Qualified 7th, the French driver lost three places in the first lap before stabilizing his position between Takaaki Nakagami and a furious trio composed ofAleix Espargaro, Pol Espargaro et Miguel Olivera. He was then able to benefit from the collision which eliminated Maverick Vinales et Franco Morbidelli in sight of the finish line.

Mission accomplished for the pilot AMV, therefore, with 8 points in El Diablo's pocket, 12th place in the championship behind Maverick Vinales, and as a bonus the leadership of the ranking of the best rookie, tied with a Joan Mir very dull this weekend.

fabio quartararo will now head to Austin, Texas, for the 3rd round of the season, at a track he usually enjoys.

fabio quartararo: “I am very happy with what we did today in Argentina. I was worried before coming here because we hadn't tested on the track, and it's a circuit where I had always had difficulty in other categories, but I was always in the Top 10 this weekend, so it was very positive. I learned a lot from the other drivers today; I made a few mistakes at the start, being too impatient to get it right, but now is the time to do it, not at the end of the season. The first laps were quite difficult, with a full tank I missed a few braking and lost contact with Nakagami. It was the first time I fought in the middle of a group with a full tank, so it wasn't easy. Then we were able to find our rhythm and have a good race. I would like to thank the entire team for the excellent work they have done, today and throughout the weekend. I can’t wait to be in Austin.”

Wilco Zeelenberg: “If we only analyze the race, we are satisfied with Fabio Quartararo's result and even more so after listening to his comments, in which he explains that he struggled at the start with a full tank. We are happy with his eighth place, in what is only his second MotoGP race.”
