The Assen circuit has a very long history and has been punctuated by numerous modifications between 1925 and the present day, from the first race on a 28 kilometer route, through the 1926-1954 editions (apart from the war years). on the 16 kilometer route, the permanent 1955-1983 circuit of 7 kilometers up to the 1984-1999-2006-2009 and 2012 routes resulting in a total length reduced to 4542 meters.

This story is so glorious and its anecdotes so numerous (The Cathedral, Saturday race, pilots' strike, etc.) that they deserve several articles in their own right, but might bore the youngest of our readers...
