The ranks of Moto3 starters will be thinned when the Dutch Grand Prix begins at Assen in a week's time. We already know that the challenger to the current championship leader, Jorge Navarro, will be absent due to a broken leg in training. We now learn that the Japanese Hiroki Ono will also be among the absent subscribers.

The fault lies with a broken finger during a bad fall suffered in Barcelona. The Catalan Grand Prix was therefore painful for the Asia team driver who went to Japan to have an operation on an affected left hand. A surgery which revealed a broken index finger which had to be consolidated.

If the operation was successful while the convalescence went well, it was decided that a package for the Dutch round would be more reasonable. The teammate of a Pawi winner of a Grand Prix in Argentina this year will therefore stay at home and leave the Malaysian alone to defend the team's colors. Ono is currently sixth overall with 20 points and has two sixth places in Argentina and Mugello as his best results.
