The conditions are certainly less bad than at Assen for the Superbike where snow canceled the first SBK race, but the participants in the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin woke up this morning to deluges of water which temporarily flooded a circuit already considered dangerous by some.
As a result, and even though the rain has now generally stopped, FP3 has been postponed.
Suffering regularly from tornadoes, Texans do not joke with thunderstorms and the entrances to the circuit were closed to the public until 16:30 p.m. because of lightning. Each person in the audience was asked to stay in their Faraday cage car…
Likewise, the marshals left the area around the track to take shelter from the lightning.
Due to lightning in the area, gates are delayed until the area is clear. If you are already at COTA, please remain in your vehicle in the parking lot & keep an eye on social media and the COTA App for updates.
