At the end of the third round of the Moto2 championship of the season in Austin, a small event took place which dusted off the shelves. Certainly, it was with a Triumph engine and through a particular adventure, but the fact is that the name of MV Agusta appeared again in the points in this high competition deserted for 42 years by the coat of arms of Varese. An update that we owe to Switzerland Dominique Aegerter who thus worthily marked what was, in Austin, his 200th career Grand Prix…

The third race of the Moto2 World Championship season was therefore the right one for the MV Agusta Idealavoro Forward Racing team, which this season was keen to score its first points under legendary colors. Enough to approach with serenity the return to Europe via Jerez for the Italian-Swiss troop.

Dominique Aegerter entered his 200th career Grand Prix with great determination, managing to recover 13 places in the first laps. Continuing to lead an uphill race, the Swiss driver finally took 14th position at the finish line, a position which allowed him to win for himself and the team the first important points in the general classification.

« It was my 200th GP, I almost feel old " commented Dominique Aegerter, who teamed up with Gabriel Ruiu due to injury package Manzi. " It was a strange weekend, we had a lot of new pieces to try, so that was also an added challenge. Due to weather conditions, FP3 was canceled. As a result, we had less time on the track and in qualifying we had some technical problems which did not allow us to gain the expected starting position. ».

« I had a good start, the team prepared a good bike and I was able to recover many positions. I didn't make any mistakes and I can say that with my 200e Grand Prix, MV Agusta is back. This 14th place earned me 2 points, for me and for the team. So I'm happy because everyone is working hard for this extraordinary project and putting an increasingly competitive motorcycle on the track. I am now ready to return to Europe. After Jerez we will have tests that will help us move forward. The work we do is very motivating and we hope to continue in this direction. I thank my entire team, the sponsors and Giovanni for this fantastic opportunity to write a piece of racing history together. ».

The team manager Cuzari also celebrates this moment: “ I am happy with this result obtained just in the third race of this great project. With Dominique, we were able to confirm that we were there. The direction is good. Even Gabriele, despite his inexperience in this championship, was able to finish the race and assert himself despite the unfavorable conditions. I am excited about these first points which are important for us and which are the result of excellent teamwork from the team and drivers. I thank you all for putting your heart into taking on this ambitious challenge and all our partners who support us. The achievement of this first objective is dedicated to all of us, who believed in it and continue to believe without giving up. A special thank you to the CRC who supports us impeccably ».
