The Marc VDS team returned from Austin with very good results. Here is the team's press release.

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS driver Alex Marquez scored his best result of the season today in Texas by placing second in the Grand Prix of the Americas.

Thanks to this new podium, Marquez moves up to second place in the general classification, tied on points with Mattia Pasini.

Starting from pole position, Marquez led the race for thirteen laps before a few slips, while he was battling with Bagnaia, encouraged him to calm things down to settle for second place.

If Marquez made a strong impression at the head of the race, Joan Mir put on a show by securing a superb fourth place.

The Moto2 championship rookie made a magnificent comeback after a collision with Luca Marini at the first corner caused him to drop to twenty-fourth position.

Without ever being discouraged, Mir managed to come back to take fourth place with four laps to go. With the podium in sight, Mir set his fastest lap of the race on the penultimate lap to finally cross the finish line 1.6 seconds behind Miguel Oliveira.

The next race will take place in two weeks in Spain, on the Jerez circuit.

Alex Marquez :2e

“It was important to finish this race on the podium before the next Grands Prix in Europe which will take place on circuits that suit me better. I managed to stay in the lead for a while but the conditions were different today and with the wind I narrowly caught the bike on several occasions. I gave one hundred percent and I'm happy with the result. »

Joan mir :4e

“I'm a little disappointed with this fourth place because at the end I had the pace to get on the podium. Unfortunately, I negotiated the first turn badly... But that's the race. The important thing is to confirm that we had a very good pace, much better than what I expected on this circuit. It's positive before the next races in Europe. »

Michael Bartholemy : Team Principal

“It’s a fantastic result for the team. With the pace he had since the start of the weekend we thought Alex was going to go alone in front, but at the end his tire didn't have much grip and it got complicated for him. In these conditions, this second place is a good result. Joan was very impressive today, finishing fourth in his third Moto2 race after being bumped at the first corner. Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS finds itself at the top of the team rankings after three races and we are confident as we continue the season in Europe. »
