Leader of the Championship arriving in Austin, the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team was present at the forefront throughout the weekend and inevitably returned a little disappointed from the race. Arón Canet and Alonso López both encountered difficulties.

We remember with what panache Aron Canet had dominated the Austin Grand Prix last year, before unfortunately crashing in the race. This year, the domination was on the side of Jorge Martín. Nevertheless, Canet was always in the top 5 throughout the weekend, and could hope to play for the podium on Sunday.

Unfortunately, everything did not go as planned, and the Spanish driver encountered difficulties that he does not really know how to explain: “I had trouble keeping pace in the race, I had problems in the straight and I didn't really know the cause. We still need to analyze the data. We have at least improved on last year's result. My team worked very well throughout the weekend. »

Due to these problems, Canet began to fall back, and unfortunately got stuck in the chasing group. Halfway through the race he dropped to twelfth place, but managed to come back to finish eighth, a result far from what he expected: “At the start of the race I was in a good position but, as the laps went by, I encountered difficulties in certain parts of the track. It got worse, and I then found myself among many drivers with whom I could not move forward. »

Although he lost the lead in the Championship, he remains second, just seven points behind the leader, which makes him confident for the future: “Despite the result, I think we are very strong. Now we have to check what happened and continue working for the Spanish Grand Prix, where we won last year. We will undoubtedly work to try to match this result. »

The weekend was more difficult for his teammate Alonso lopez who discovered this very technical circuit. At the bottom of the ranking in each session, the rookie progressed little by little: “We struggled to have a good pace throughout the weekend because it's a track whose corners are nothing like European circuits. However, we have progressed day after day, and this experience will be beneficial for next year. In the end I managed to adapt to this circuit and my pace increased regularly. »

Qualified twenty-second, he came back into the race to finish in seventeenth position, his best result of the weekend. Even though he took a magnificent sixth place in Argentina, he knew that this Grand Prix would be more complicated, and showed a lot of maturity in the race: “I recovered positions during the start straight, but I was hit in the first corner, and I almost fell. I faced the race with confidence, knowing that I couldn't fight among the top ten with the pace I had. »
