Jules Danilo's message on his Facebook page sums up the situation well. Having taken advantage of the first minutes of the qualifying session to complete a fast lap, the French driver had done the essentials when the rain arrived. A good strategy and a fate fortunately opposite to that of his teammate who, although winner in Qatar and 10th in Argentina, was nevertheless trapped by the weather and will therefore start 30th on the grid.
Coming back to Jules, if we except this little meteorological boost, he was in 16th place in the USA in the combined three free practice sessions, and therefore seems well able to increase his capital this evening by 5 points at the World Championship. Something we sincerely wish him
Jules Danilo: “I am very happy with this qualification. We went out on track when it started to rain with the dry settings we had used on Friday, and which I felt comfortable with. A first round to gain confidence then a second to attack. During the third lap, the rain was too heavy and the track too wet in T3 and T4. It's a good start, we were fast during all the sessions and now we have to continue this way. »
