A race for which qualifying has been disrupted, as is the case today with Moto3, is always interesting to watch.

Some big names were trapped, starting with Niccolo Antonelli who will only start 30th, and, conversely, some drivers unaccustomed to the first positions will try to follow the lead of the leading men, starting with Philipp Oettl.

The strong men of this weekend nevertheless seem to be the usual Jorge Navarro, Fabio Quartararo, Enea Bastianini, Romano Fenati, even Nicolo Bulega, while Brad Binder, championship leader, seems slightly behind for the moment.

The sky is gray but the track is dry and the conditions are very good (air at 23° and ground at 28°).
Departure is delayed to clean the track of oil deposited during the MotoGP riders parade.

When the red lights go out, Jorge Navarro comes best from a front line also composed of Philipp Oettl and Enea Bastianini. Behind the Spanish driver, Oettl and Fenati followed suit and the three men began to open up a small gap.

On the next pass, Navarro pushes hard and takes advantage of the fact that Oettl slows Fenati down a little to try to escape. He has more than a second lead on the second pass.

Two more laps and the situation is clearly settling; Navarro, alone in the lead with a gap stabilized at 1,6 seconds ahead of Fenati and Oettl. Further on, two seconds behind the duo, the peloton is led by Binder and Quartararo.
Danilo is then 11th, Masbou 15th and Antonelli has already moved up to 16th place. One lap later, the Italian driver is 14th with 13 laps still to go.

Gradually, Fenati drops Oettl and returns to Navarro. The junction is made to the next loop when Navarro makes a drop at the end of the straight line. The Estrella Galicia pilot then wisely wedges himself behind his Italian counterpart, in order to study whether a counter-attack is possible.

Behind, Quartararo manages to contain Binder and gradually returns to Oettl. The rest of the peloton has dropped out and Antonelli continues his climb; 11th with 10 laps to go.

Fenati continued his effort and gradually took over Navarro just as Quartararo joined Oettl. The French driver recovers third place 8 laps from the finish.

The race seems to be decided with 5 laps from the checkered flag, with the positions now well stabilized by several seconds for the Top 5; Fenati, Navarro, Quartararo, Oettl and Binder.

Behind, sixth place is between Locatelli, Canet, Antonelli and Bastianini.

But 3 laps from the end of the race, spectacular turn of events; Fabio Quartararo obviously has a mechanical problem (no more second gear) and was first overtaken by Oettl and Binder. It will end at a very disappointing 13th place.

Antonelli falls on the next pass, thus ruining a very good climb.

In the last round, Binder manages to get the better of Oettl and thus secures the third step on the podium.

Jules Danilo knows how to take advantage of all these hazards and finds himself fighting for 8th position. He will finish 9th (his best result in GP), just behind Livio Law.
Alexis Masbou fails at the points gate, 16th.

In the championship standings, Brad Binder (52 points) leads ahead of Jorge Navarro (49) and Romano Fenati (38), driver of the VR46 Riders Academy and winner of this Grand Prix of the Americas.
