The teammate of a Marc Marquez triumphant will remember this edition of the Grand Prix of the Americas. Sportingly, he was nowhere during testing before performing well in the race thanks to a Michelin medium front and soft rear combination seasoned with a new driving style. Humanly, he confirmed his noble dispositions by going to apologize to a Dovizioso accidentally torpedoed. But Dani Pedrosa also stopped at this accident to raise the alarm about the fins. A message which unfortunately did not really carry.
He explains : " the front end locked up and I went off course. I felt it and tried to save the situation but the bike moved again and it got away from me. Maybe I had added more angle and that's what happens with these tires. They are very sensitive to the slightest thing you do on the motorcycle ". The out-of-control Honda therefore collided with the #4 Ducati, which itself had just missed the apex of turn #1: “ I feel sorry for Dovi because I know the unpleasant feeling you get when you get hit by another driver. And the impact was quite violent ". The proof ? “ We saw in Argentina that a fin from Iannone cut off Marc Marquez's on-board camera. It's not nothing. If it can cut that, it can cut something else. And as I said, the impact on Dovi was very violent. I'm relieved that he wasn't hurt and that my bike didn't cause him any damage ".
