#AustralianGP Moto2 Qualifications: Pasini, ten years later!

The Moto2 protagonists had a particularly hectic last free practice session due to a track with many traps posed by the humidity and the ambient coolness. Olive tree had then taken the lead, avoiding numerous falls, but without beating the fastest time set since Friday by Nakagami who was to be counted among the regretted morning accidents. For qualifying, it was the same Phillip Island route, undecided between sun and rain, which offered itself with bitumen at 23° and an atmosphere at just over 13°. For what verdict?

Even before hostilities began, the flag signaling rain was flapping in the wind, hardly encouraging the pilots to go and tempt the devil. This one was taken by a Schrotter determined which announced a good 1'33.445, four tenths ahead Morbidely, Alex Marquez et Tom Luthi, in rhythm. Nakagami was sixth. Not bad, but Pasini did even better by posting 1'33.300, which was, this time, indeed the best performance since the start of the Australian meeting.

A massive blow which stunned the field until the last five minutes when Shrotter attempted the response only to fail by only 8 thousandths. KTM made a nice group shot with Olive tree et Brad Binder in third and fourth places, leaving Morbidely fifth. Lüthi was tenth. We left it there with one Quarterly twentieth.

This is the fifth pole position for Pasini. The last time he commanded a starting grid at Phillip Island was in 2007 with a 125cc!
