After a series of good performances, including two podiums at Mugello and Misano, the Team Pramac driver could have hoped for a lot from Phillip Island, but the weekend unfortunately did not go as planned.

During free practice, Petrucci only obtained seventeenth place in the classification combined for the three sessions, 1.044 behind the best time of Aleix Espargaro. He was preceded by his teammate Scott Redding which only has a GP16, unlike Danilo's GP17, identical to those of Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo.

Qualifying didn't go much better, with the eighth fastest time in Q1 between the two Desmosedici from the Avintia team from Loris Baz and Hector Barbera. This therefore placed Danilo on the sixth row of the starting grid, in the company of Jorge Lorenzo and Loris Baz.

During the race, Petrucci was not at all comfortable and he languished between eighteenth and twenty-second place. He completed the second half of the event in penultimate position, ahead of Broc Parkes. Finally Danilo crossed the finish line disappointed in twenty-first position, 48 seconds behind the winner Marc Marquez.

According to Danilo Petrucci, who are " It's my worst race of the season. We don't know why we couldn't compete. I really can't explain it right now. »

“Luckily Sepang is only a week away. It's a track that I really like and I hope I can do well to forget as soon as possible this weekend. »
