Gigi Dall'Igna, the director of Ducati Corse, spoke to Sky Sport, after Andrea Dovizioso's victory and Jorge Lorenzo's 4th place during the Austrian Grand Prix.

“It's a track where we have always worked well, where you have to accelerate hard and where the engine counts a lot. Ducati has always had these qualities. Márquez and Honda made life difficult for us. Fortunately, we achieved the third victory of the season. Last year, the difference between us and the others, in terms of speed, was significant. When the others arrive at the same level, it is necessary to resort to a parade. I expected a step forward from Honda and Yamaha but unfortunately we were not able to respond, to maintain this advantage that we had. Overall, this year our bike is more balanced than in 2016 and, regarding its weak points, it has reduced its gap with the best. »

The director of Ducati Corse then praises Andrea Dovizioso before coming to Jorge Lorenzo who, once again, tried, as he did with his Yamaha, to escape before having to return to the ranks .

“I am very happy with Jorge. His tactics were not good, undoubtedly Dovi's were better, but Jorge needs to exploit all the qualities he has. Taking away his weapons could be counterproductive at the moment. I still think his race was important from a motivational and mental point of view. He's come within a hair's breadth, and it's another important step in the right direction. »
