A compartment syndrome operation 11 days ago and you are in pole position here in Catalonia on a circuit that you love since you won there last year. You've already done a pole at Jerez but this was a really good lap...
fabio quartararo : " Yes ! Certainly this pole position is special because it is one of my favorite circuits and, as you say, I have good memories there. After the operation I had 11 days ago, I didn't know what my condition would be on this circuit. I think it's OK. We had a good pace and also had a really good lap during qualifying, so I'm very happy with how today went.”
We obviously cannot know what your condition will be at the end of the race distance and you say that your pace is good. I'm sure you will try to make a better start than at Mugello. What do you expect physically?
“Physically, we didn't take any medicine yesterday and today but we will take something tomorrow. We will try to make a good start because I haven't been able to gain a place in the 6 races this year so far, so we hope to stay in this position and not lose too many positions.
Have you had to change anything about your riding style because of your surgery, and have you ever had the opportunity to race with an injury in the past?
“We didn't change anything on the bike and, just in FP1, the feeling was a bit strange. I still have stitches on my arm so I don't feel any pain but a strange feeling on my arm. I don't think I've ever run with an injury, but it's not just an injury; This is something we had to do for the next races. It’s just a matter of habit.”
