Max Biaggi has just celebrated his 48th birthday and he shows that he still has juice. He remains connected to a motorcycle which always has a hold on him. After a serious accident during supermoto training, he swore that he would never ride the handlebars again, but he still bought this little extension. With an electric motorcycle with a very French name for a speed record…

Max Biaggi claims six world championship titles. He won the overall classification in the 250cc class four times, and the Superbike World Cup twice. In 2015, he rode his final four races for Aprilia as a replacement rider, then hung up his racing helmet.

The one we nicknamed the Corsair is now a happy Moto3 team leader since his pilot Aron Canet currently leads the championship on a KTM. But, to this challenge, biaggi decided to add another: He wants to beat the speed record for electric motorcycles. More precisely, it is the world record for “electric motorcycles with partially simplified drive wheel and weighing less than 300 kilograms”.

The idea is to go in August 2020 to the Uyuni salt desert in Bolivia. Max's motorcycle will be the Wattman model from Voxan, belonging to the Venturi group known in the world of Formula E.

The current record is 327,608 km/h, held by Jim Hoogerhyde on a Lightning SB220. biaggi and his team are aiming for 330 km/h. Max Biaggi worked on aerodynamic and ergonomic adjustments at the factory. “ We learned a lot, especially regarding my position on the bike” said biaggi. " It's not the typical running position, I have to lie down on the ground to get used to it.".
