“CAROLE” Unique story of a legendary circuit
This subject is also the very well chosen title of a book dedicated to the Carole circuit which is approaching its 40th anniversary. It covers the entire period.
The press was invited to the circuit today... Carole for a 2-voice presentation of the President of the FFM Jacques Bolle and his editor Zef Enault who thus signed his first work.
The initiative of the FFM is wonderful for those who experienced the events which led to its creation without knowing all the details, not all alluring, but also for the youngest who are its users, finally for the competitors who sometimes complain about the format of the circuit when they understand their happiness at being able to tour there even though it was not at all created for them.
It is also a good contribution from the point of view of preserving the heritage to which Jacques Bolle reaffirms his attachment.
Finally, this is undoubtedly the essential thing, these are the "real things in life" made up of struggles of contradictory interests of users, bikers and the individuals within them, with public and political powers which give the dimension of a book relating an exceptional experience in many respects and in its time.
Everyone will discover the chaotic underbelly and adventures of its existence from its birth and throughout its exploitation.
The overall success is obvious, to the credit of its editor and all those who contributed to weaving the threads of the adventure.
The historical part is the most interesting because it is the least known by many and not the easiest to collect and order.
We will return to the press conference which will give an idea of the content and the questions surrounding the existence of the circuit which we know to be precarious... since its beginnings.
The sickly baby is almost 40 years old and his retirement age has not yet been determined. We will never do a Grand Prix on it, but it is a site which has a history in the microcosm of French motorcycling. And firstly because it was born from a tragedy experienced 40 years ago and which gave it its name. It is the materialization of the motorcyclist's passion for speed, in all places and in all circumstances. A romanticism of a bygone era which has never left this route which is now very seriously managed. Here is the Carole circuit. A story well worth a book.
FFM press release
For almost 40 years, the Circuit Carole located on the outskirts of Paris has delighted tens of thousands of bikers each year. However, its origin was dramatic. In 1977, Carole Le Fol an 18-year-old girl lost her life on a motorbike in the Rungis halls, a place where for several years wild races had been organized every Friday evening with regular serious accidents.
This was the trigger for a biker revolt movement which, under the aegis of a born leader, Jean Jacques Branfaux, managed to obtain the creation in 1979 of a “provisional” circuit on a site at the time almost -desert, near Charles de Gaulle airport, in the town of Tremblay les Gonesse.
This equipment took the name of Circuit Carole in memory of Carole Le Fol. Regularly threatened with disappearance, the Circuit Carole has followed the evolution of the motorcycle world and is today recognized as a mecca for motorcycling and French motorcycle sport.
Managed since 2012 by the French Motorcycling Federation in collaboration with the French Federation of Angry Bikers, the circuit is getting a new lease of life. Through five chapters, the book “ Carole, unique story of a legendary circuit » returns to the genesis, developments and adventures of the Ile-de-France track.
Written by the journalist Zef Enault and published by the FFM, this work of more than 130 pages brings together numerous archive photos, anecdotes and allows us to discover the story of Carole through those who shaped her.
The book Circuit Carole is available at the price of 39 euros (shipping included) and you can order it by clicking here.
