Cause or consequence of its very recent signing with Leopard Racing for 2017, we don't know yet, but the fact remains that Dominique Aegerter seems to be fired with immediate effect and will not drive in Japan for Fred Corminboeuf's CarXpert Interwetten team.

He will be replaced by the young Iker Lecuona, whose name already appears on the IRTA entry lists and will more than likely still be there until the end of the season. We will soon publish an interview with the young and talented Spaniard.

This ejection of the Rohrbach driver from the Franco-Swiss structure comes like a hammer blow in the paddock because even if the #77 was somewhat jealous of the attention paid to Tom Luthi Lately, a tacit agreement for the coming season still seemed in order during the last Grand Prix.

Unless there is a sudden worsening of his injury, an immediate ejection can obviously only be the result of a deep disagreement between the parties. But that doesn't really justify a breakup during the season, so we can assume, like a Roman Fenati in the SKY VR46 team, that there may have been a mistake. And if so, it can only be serious, since we obviously do not take such a decision lightly after having invested several million euros in its pilot, as did Olivier Metraux, the team's main sponsor, on Dominique Aegerter for ten years.

We have not been able to contact the team, part of which we know has already started its transit to Japan; the hours or days to come should provide more details… or not!
