Our four-wheeled friends are less fortunate than us. Indeed, while we have a French Grand Prix which is doing well and offering more and more services each year, French F1 fans have not had a national Grand Prix since 2009.

A state of affairs due to the difficulty in raising the necessary funds and to a Nevers Magny Cours circuit in the heart of a region offering a quickly saturated hotel infrastructure, as well as road access for spectators coming from the South.

Projects are regularly studied to bring F1 back to France but so far none have come to fruition. However, next Monday a press conference will take place in Paris entitled “The future of Formula 1 in France” with enough stakeholders from the Provence Alpes Côtes d'Azur region, chaired by Christian Estrosi, former motorcycle racer, for one to think that it is a question of considering the return of F1 to the Paul Ricard circuit after the 14 editions which took place there between 1971 and 1990.

This is all the harm we wish to the enthusiasts of a discipline which also regularly sends emissaries into the paddocks of motorcycle Grands Prix to try to appreciate first-hand why they are so popular...
