Lynn Jarvis, the director of the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team confirmed it to Simon Patterson, journalist at MCN: “We were in advanced discussions with Dani, and clearly he and we understood the scenario well. He was definitely the other driver we had considered if Maverick hadn't been able to come on board, but we still hadn't signed any sort of pre-agreement."
