Before soon taking part in the 24 H Motos on an S 1000 RR from the Mercury Racing team, the new name of the Czech IV Racing team, with Karel Hanika and Jakub Smrž, Sylvain Barrier is taking part this weekend in the first round of the British Championship of the season at Donington in a Smiths Racing BMW.

All schedules were disrupted due to the weather, and the first of two rounds scheduled to take place on Monday (Easter) was moved to Sunday. The times for the qualifying session were also changed, and it took place shortly before the first race. Barrier was unlucky and could only get better than 17th on the grid due to a crash. This was not serious, but the session was short. Here are some images from this qualifying session.

Race 1: The GSX-R queen of Donington

It was cold for race 1, with 5.6° for the air, 9.4° for the track, and clouds. At the end of the first round, James Ellison was first, Sylvain Barrier 29th and last. By the fourth lap, Barrier had moved up to 24th. Bradley Ray took command on his Suzuki, ahead of James Ellison and Leon Haslam. Shane Byrne was sixth.

6 laps from the checkered flag, Brad Rey held off James Ellison, while Haslam experienced small problems. Luke Mossey (Kawasaki) took third ahead of Shakey Byrne (Ducati) and the two Hondas of Jason O'Halloran and Dan Linfoot. Barrier was 21st.

Bradley Rey won on his GSX-R with a small lead of 0.3 over Shane Byrne and 0.7 over James Ellison. Sylvain Barrier finished 19th at 46.2
