Andrea Dovizioso took his fourth victory of the year at this British Grand Prix. A victory acquired after lurking in the shadow of Valentino Rossi until three laps from the checkered flag, when the Borgo Panigale driver decided to launch his attack.
Barely got off his official Ducati GP17, Andrea Dovizioso spoke to the microphone of the site MotoGP.com.
Congratulations on this 4th victory. You lead the championship by nine points. It looked like a quiet race for you, until three laps from the end when you overtook. Did you know you had a little bit in your hand?
Andrea Dovizioso : " no I did not know. Everyone saved their tires for most of the race. But testing and racing are completely different. In practice, everyone attacks, and in the race it's completely different. We were very competitive in these conditions, I am very good at understanding all situations. I have negative points, but also positive points, and I attacked 100% during the last two laps. I wasn't any faster but I put my bike in the right place and I was able to win the fight against Maverick. I was a little slow at turn #16 but I was able to close the line.
This is an important race! An important victory! We are leading the championship and I really thank the whole team. »
