It was in ninth place and second Ducati rider that Andrea Dovizioso completed his first sunny day at Silverstone. All with a few questions on the tire side and certainties on the fairing side. All for tendencies different from those of his teammate Lorenzo who proved to be more efficient this Friday. But the one who is second in the championship does not panic.
After his authoritative performance in Austria, we expected a Dovizioso again offensive from the first day of the Battle of Britain. But, unlike a Márquez already in full attack, DesmoDovi preferred to first prepare the ground before delivering the blow tomorrow, Saturday. It must be said that there is still a need for clarification.
First, and unlike his teammate Lorenzo, Dovi went to war with the careening of the start of the campaign: “ we compared the data during the Misano tests and we know very well where we are. But Lorenzo has a particular style and different from all the other Ducati riders. It needs that new fairing ».
The fairing is therefore not the subject. The tires, on the other hand… “ Quite a few drivers had good times with the hard tire. For me it doesn't have normal grip. It's a subject. We try to understand, but ultimately we may be wasting our time ". So tomorrow we should see another GP17 marked 4: “ my lap times are nothing special. We focused on fine-tuning and for the moment, there is still more to do. When I fitted the soft tires I couldn't hold my line and made mistakes ».
« I'm not worried because I think we can be faster than that. We'll see that on Saturday ». Lorenzo is for his part sixth of this day.
