Andrea Iannone is having a chaotic year to say the least during her first season with Suzuki.

There were many ups and downs during the 11 previous races, and this was the case again at Silverstone last weekend, a year after the Suzuki's victory: sparkling during the Warm up, the rider Italian had a dull race to say the least, rolling behind his Rookie teammate only to end up in trouble with a fall taking Danilo Petrucci with him to the ground.

Qualified 15th behind his teammate, Andrea Iannone explained his difficulties to the international press: « it was a difficult race, the rear tire didn't give me good grip. The Suzuki was sliding a lot, spinning when accelerating and it was really difficult for me to control. I was slow, I lost a lot of time coming out of corners and it was hard for me to try to overtake the other drivers. I couldn't even keep up their pace. »

We know the end, but the Hamamatsu pilot wishes to decline his responsibility...

« I was very close to Danilo. I was in the group and Aleix Espargaro was there too. I think the Aprilia rider and Petrucci touched each other while braking. The Ducati widened and when it returned to the line, its line intersected mine. I tried to avoid Petrucci by braking hard, but I lost the front and crashed, taking the Ducati with me. Luckily, Danilo wasn't hurt and he knows it wasn't an intentional move. It wasn't my fault. I'm really sorry for Petrucci: we talked before and he understood what my problem was. »

Andrea Iannone wants to forget this race in the United Kingdom as quickly as possible and is already planning for Misano, motivated by the great performance of his teammate: “Alex Rins had a good race. I'm happy because he finished 15 seconds behind Dovizioso. In short, we have something positive to build on in the Suzuki garage. I would already like to be in Misano tomorrow morning to ride with the other guys. »

Finally, the fiery Italian even manages to surprise us by showing a certain wisdom...

“In the past I was a decidedly more tense driver. Then, with time I realized that time and hard work bring results. With this tension, I never solved anything. You can't achieve anything in this sport overnight, so we will continue to work to improve our results. »

Andrea Iannone is currently 16th in the championship with 33 points.
