While waiting for the expected sun, the Brno circuit is covered by a little morning mist which does not prevent the drivers in the small category from starting this weekend with ideal conditions; 16° in the air, 21° on the ground.

Here are the references available for this weekend in the Czech Republic:

Brno 2015 2016
FP1 2'08.700 by Efren Vazquez
FP2 2'08.483 by Danny Kent
FP3 2'07.649 by Danny Kent
QP 2'07.667 by Niccolo Antonelli
WU 2'08.649 by Miguel Oliveira
Track record 2'07.622 by Alex Rins (2013)

In the absence of Roman Fenati whose future would now involve a 2017 season in Moto2 with Gresini, it is his ex-teammate Nicholas Bulega who sets a first milestone in 2'10.423 despite his lack of knowledge of the circuit.

Things obviously don't stop there and many of them successively descend the provisional reference for this morning; Gabriel Rodrigo, Brad Binder and Andrea Migno, the latter registering a 2'09.504 at the end of a first run where Migno, Binder, Oettl, Rodrigo, Navarro, Giannantonio, Bulega, Antonelli, Loi and Kornfeil make up the Top 10, while Fabio Quartararo and Jules Danilo appear in 18th and 20th places.

On resumption, Brad Binder takes command in 2'08.712 ahead Francis Bagnaia who received engine and chassis parts for his Mahindra.

Jules Danilo minor fall at turn #7, just like Hiroki Ono had done it a few minutes before.

The last minutes see Jakub Kornfeil and Nicolo Bulega get closer to Brad Binder, but it is ultimately Jorge Martin, who also benefits from the new Mahindra parts, who overtakes the South African driver before being overtaken himself by Enea Bastianini in 2'08.515.

fabio quartararo concludes this session in 15th position, Jules Danilo at the 26th.

In the end, the times improved by around 2 tenths compared to last year.
