The curves of this Catalan Grand Prix are quite telling.

They immediately reveal the best race time achieved on the third lap by Jonas Folger, which is not insignificant when we know that the German driver was seriously lectured by his entire team on the evening of testing... Apparently, the lesson bore fruit!

Then, the first half of the race shows fairly great consistency among the drivers, with the notable exception of Jorge Lorenzo who showed himself to be completely inconsistent from the sixth lap, and for six or seven laps, before returning to normal racing rhythm.

The 17th pass marks the effects of tire management by each driver: Andrea Dovizioso, who waited quietly behind Dani Pedrosa, seizes command at the moment when the tires of this one, as well as those of Johann zarco et Jonas Folger, are starting to seriously collapse.

Marc Márquez is the only one able to try to give him a reply, and even proves to be faster than the Italian driver on the 19th lap before the latter puts things back on track during the following passes.

At the end of the race, Jorge Lorenzo turns out to be the third fastest man at the moment, but his previous inconsistencies have definitely kept him away from the podium.

The gaps are large between the times at the start of the race and those at the end, which shows that the tires were put to the test, even if the Ducati are doing better than the others in this area. More than a question of cycle part, those concerned attribute this advantage to better exploitation of the unique electronics…
