On a track that is now completely dry, and under a pleasant Catalan sun, Aron Canet brilliantly took first position ahead of Romano Fenati, Joan Mir, Nicolo Bulega, Andrea Migno and Jorge Martin.
It could be said that testing began in earnest this afternoon, after a morning session during which the drivers were able to spot the new circuit layout, but not achieve any fast times due to the humidity. For this second session, the air temperature was 280 and 44° for the track, with completely dry asphalt.

Roman Fenati established the first reference time in 1'56.732. Joan Mir succeeded him in 1'56.500, then Fenati regained the advantage in 1'55.946. The times were generally comparable to those of last year, as we saw during the recent MotoGP tests, the only difference being the use of the first chicane (MotoGP) instead of the second (F1 ).
Joan Mir took the lead in 1'55.168, 0.1 ahead of Romano Fenati and 0.2 ahead Aron canet. Jules Danilo was twenty-fourth, 2 seconds behind, 22 minutes from the checkered flag. Juanfran Guevara used, like most KTM riders, the old Austrian frame. He reached the podium for the first time at Mugello after 78 Grand Prix starts. His best result in Barcelona dates back to last year with a 13th place. Only Bo Bendsneyder and Niccolo Antonelli, for the official Aki Ajo team, used the new chassis.
Then only fifteenth, Fabio di Giannantonio equaled his best result in Moto3 last Sunday. With six podiums this year, he was approaching Joan Mir (seven top 3s). In 2016, his rookie year, he finished ninth here in Barcelona. He moved up to ninth position with 10 minutes to go.

Enea Bastianini took the lead in 1'55.093 with 8 minutes remaining, 0.07 ahead of Mir and 0.2 ahead of Canet, Loi and Fenati. Many riders replaced the rear Dunlop with a soft one. Fenati took the advantage in 1'54.902, then in 1'54.544. He was then half a second ahead of second Enea Bastianini. Jorge Martin moved from tenth place to second, 0.4 behind Fenati.
On the last lap, Aron Canet improved in 1'54.257 and finished the session in the lead ahead of Romano Fenati, Joan Mir, Nicolo Bulega, Andrea Migno and Jorge Martin. Jules Danilo was twenty-fifth.
