The thirteen drivers assembled to compete for the two qualifying spots included (in order of FP3 result) Jonas Folger, Cal Crutchlow, Maverick Viñales, Loris Baz, Valentino Rossi, Johann Zarco, Tito Rabat, Jack Miller, Sylvain Guintoli, Pol Espargaro, Karel Abraham, Sam Lowes and Bradley Smith. We particularly noticed all the Yamahas entered, the two official Movistars and the two Tech 3s. But they were not alone, in particular against the Honda of Cal Crutchlow while Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa had achieved the two best times of FP3.

Bradley Smith was out with an injured pinky finger. Sylvain Guintoli too, victim of discomfort (dehydration?) and at the Mobile Clinic.
The first fast time was achieved by Jonas Folger in 1'44.571, 0.3 ahead of Maverick Vinales and 0.5 ahead of Jack Miller and Cal Crutchlow. Sam Lowes' Aprilia wouldn't start.
Folger improved to 1'44.239. He preceded Vinales by 0.6, Miller by 0.8, Crutchlow by 0.9 and Rossi by 1.1. With 7 minutes to go, Zarco, Lowes, Guintoli and of course Smith had not left their stands.
Lowes' Aprilia finally took off with 5 minutes to go, and the Briton set off at around the same time as Johann Zarco.

Johann Zarco climbed into third position ahead of Loris Baz, behind Folger and Vinales. Jack Miller moved to fourth. Zarco closed to 0.06 from Vinales, while Cal Crutchlow fell without gravity.
Under the checkered flag, Folger qualified alongside Vinales, ahead of Rossi, Zarco, Miller and Baz.
