The reigning World Champion is not a man who does things by half measures. Thus he was at the origin of the elimination of intermediate tires. According to him, the slicks and rain tires were more than enough to equip all the drivers in all circumstances. Not everyone necessarily agreed with him, but the reigning World Champion's point of view prevailed.

In the area of rubber distribution across the entire width of the tread, Marquez is equally complete. For him, two different rubbers, to be warmed up, used and made to last over the duration of a race, is to double the tire problem. And by three, if there are three different erasers across the width.

Marc was not very pleased when he discovered that all the front tires offered at Barcelona were asymmetrical. This of course does not explain all these falls, and Marquez did not advance in this area.

On the other hand, he achieved the best time on Monday with a symmetrical front tire, made of a single compound. An image often speaks louder than a long speech. Marquez does not want an asymmetrical front tire at Montmelo.

For Marc Marquez, “ I like the tire we have now, but symmetrical. With just one mix. It is the “H” compound that is quite hard ", said the Spaniard, who suffered four falls from the front on Saturday.

“I felt very good again this Monday, with the front of the bike. I actually did my fastest lap with this tire because it was more stable. I found my smile again, at least on this track. We hope to be able to continue on this path with the tires.

“I believe that, as I already said during the Grand Prix weekend, asymmetric tires – double compound – are good, but only for certain circuits. In other circuits, like here, for example, where the track temperature was 53 degrees, with a single compound the front is much more stable.

“Asymmetric tires, we only need them at Sachsenring, Phillip Island, Red Bull Ring, and Valencia. The other circuits we can do with a compound. Last year we did it like that and the front end was much more stable.

« Si vous regardez ce week-end, dès que j’ai roulé sur de petites bosses, la moto a été instable et je suis tombé. J’ai perdu l’avant. Au cours du test, j’ai été prudent, mais quand j’ai mis ce pneu [symétrique], j’ai fait un tour lent puis ai commencé à attaquer. Je me sentais bien et tout était beaucoup plus stable. “

“Even if you have a tire made of two hard compounds, with the asymmetric, there is still a connection in the middle of the tire. So this junction point I think makes the tire unstable when it's too hot. With just one compound, the tire is much more stable.”
