Yesterday, during the IRTA test in Barcelona-Catalunya, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team had each of its two riders try a different new chassis.
Today, during a private test, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales will exchange their new chassis in order to confirm, or not, each other's analysis.
For the time being, Valentino Rossi is satisfied with the model tested (see herei). Maverick Vinales a little less.
At the end of the day, Maverick Vinales gave a very brief press conference, the entirety of which we report here.
Maverick Vinales : “I feel good on the bike again, after not having a good feeling on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I rode very well, and as I felt confident I was able to push the limit a little more with the bike. And it was good, it was good to drive well again. »
Did you understand why you had this bad feeling?
“No, honestly no. Already, from the start on the track, I felt much better. Anyway, you know, it's something we have to forget going forward at Assen. »
What have you tried today? Electronics?
“We tried a lot of things on the bike. Not just electronics, but also other parts on the motorcycle. Regardless, I felt good with all the pieces. I did a lot of 1'45s, and for 20-25 laps, big 1'46s and small 1'47s. So, those were pretty good times compared to the race. But anyway, it was good that I could do long runs and gain confidence. »
Have you tried the two new chassis?
" No. I just tried one. Tomorrow we will focus on the other chassis, and we will try to improve the times, especially with high temperatures. »
Does the one you tried help you?
“Well, not in the way we expected (laughs). He is in another domain. »
In what area does it help you?
“We still need to try it more.” I haven't tried it very well, I haven't tried it with new tires, so we'll see what happens tomorrow. »
And the fairing?
“Yes, I tried it and it was good because with the fairing we had, on tracks like Mugello the bike was heavy, here it was quite good. Quite nice to ride with the new fairing. So it was good to test it because it's also important for Assen because we have a lot of wheelies there. »
