The Barcelona-Catalunya circuit is considered very technical and presents brutal braking which puts considerable strain on the braking system.

The first braking after the long downhill finishing straight is one of the most difficult in the world championship, not only because the MotoGP riders reach speeds of around 340 km/h there, but above all because several demanding braking, from turn number 10, follows one another and does not give the brakes time to cool down in the mixed part of the circuit.

The temperatures reached by the carbon discs and pads are therefore particularly high compared to other world championship events.
