Already crowned European Moto2 Champion at the Albacete race, Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team) hoped to beat his great rival Héctor Garzó (CNS Motorsport) again this weekend, currently in second place, with a 37-point lead. on Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing). He was battling with his Italian compatriot Tommaso Marcon (Team CIatti–Speed Up) for third place in the Championship.
The track was slightly more favorable in the morning and Hector Garzo (CNS Motorsport) took advantage of it to precede Tommaso Marcon (T.Ciatti–Speed Up), Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team) and Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing) in 1'36.048.
In the afternoon, during the second and final qualifying session, Edgar Pons (Baiko Racing Team) was the fastest in 1'36.114, which was not enough to steal the best time from Hector Garzo (CNS Motorsport) who finished second in the afternoon. Yari Montella (T.Ciatti–Speed Up), Tommaso Marcon (T.Ciatti–Speed Up) and Alessandro Zaccone (Promoracing).
Cédric Tangre (Yohann Moto Sport) ranked twenty-seventh in the second session with the TransFIORmer of Christian Boudinot, without being able to defend his chances in the first. Lyvan Luchel (Easyrace Team) finished thirtieth.
