It was with panache and almost half a second ahead during qualifying that Edgar Pons (Kalex, Baiko Racing Team) took pole position, alongside Héctor Garzó (Tech3, CNS Motorpsort) and by Niki Tuuli (Kalex, Team Stylobike). The second row included Tommaso Marcon (Speed Up, Team Ciatti), Alessandro Zacone (Kalex, Promoracing) and his teammate Montella (Speed Up, Team Ciatti). Marcel Brenner (KTM, Kiefer Racing) opened the third row with Miquel Pons (Kalex, H43 Team Nobby Talasur-Blumaq) and Kasma Daniel bin Kasmayudin (Kalex, Dynavolt Intact SIC Junior Team) alongside him. Cédric Tangre occupied 21st position and Philippe Le Gallo (Yamaha, Yamaha Laglisse) 32nd overall and seventh in Superstock 600.
The temperature was quite pleasant for the only Moto2 race of the weekend, with 21° for the air and 26° for the surface. For the record, Honda 600 engines are still used in CEV, unlike the 765 Triumph Grands Prix. The frames are therefore different.
The fastest to start the 19 laps was Edgar Pons (Kalex, Baiko Racing Team) ahead of Héctor Garzó (Tech3, CNS Motorpsort) and Niki Tuuli (Kalex, Team Stylobike), the three men on the front row. Marcel Brenner, although well placed in fifth position, retired at the side of the track due to a broken engine. Niki Tuuli and Matteo Ferrari crashed on spilled oil and the race was stopped at the red flag. Ferrari could return to the pits, but Niki Tuuli was evacuated conscious on a stretcher and could not take part in the second start. Remember that the Finn held first place in the provisional championship ranking at that time.
A new start was given for 12 laps. The fastest to start and dive into the lead in the first corner was Edgar Pons ahead of Héctor Garzó, Tommaso Marcon, Yari Montella and Miquel Pons.
Edgar Pons was trying to widen the gap as quickly as possible due to the short distance of the event. But Héctor Garzó remained threatening. The fight for third position was intense, with Miquel Pons in fifth position losing a little ground on the two men.
At the front, Pons and Garzó were separated by only half a second, while Montella and Marconi were 4 seconds behind and Miquel Pons more than 6 behind. On the French side, Cédric Tangre was eighteenth ahead of Beni Solis, the American teammate of Edgar Pons ( and who walks with crutches). Matteo Ferrari, despite his previous fall, was in sixth position.
Edgar Pons set the best lap in 1'36.014, but Héctor Garzó continued to put pressure on him by staying glued to his rear wheel. Six seconds later, the two teammates Yari Montella and Tommaso Marcon were engaged in a very good fight for third place, while Miquel Pons was alone in fifth, 12 seconds behind, ahead of Ferrari.
Tommaso Marcon took third place from his teammate Yari Montella, without there seeming to be any instructions from the team.
Finally, on the finish line Edgar Pons won a great victory with 0,972 ahead of Héctor Garzó. Tommaso Marcon finished in third place ahead of his teammate Yari Montella, Miquel Pons and Matteo Ferrari. Cédric Tangre finished sixteenth and Philippe Le Gallo twenty-eighth.
