At the dawn of the 2020 season, we informed you of theopening of the Italian CIV Moto3 championship to the Beon 450cc, alongside the now usual KTM RC250GP and Honda NR 250RW Grand Prix.

Much less expensive, the Beons with Yamaha 450cc engines are also much quieter, which, in these times, should not be neglected, if only to be able to train when the circuits see their standards noise gradually diminishes.

Until last year, we considered the approach legitimate but we somewhat considered that these machines were not there to play for victory.

This is still true for the moment, but in the last race of the 2020 season, a Beon finished second at Vallelunga in the hands of the Spaniard Adrian Fernández González, and, this year, these are the two Beons of the Spaniard Alex Millan and Italian Lorenzo Bartalesi which we find on the second and third steps of the podium during the first race at Imola…

As a result, the teams involved in the Italian championship are seriously beginning to evaluate whether the investment generated by the use in this Grand Prix machine is really justified, like Peter Bagnaia , father of Pecco Bagnaia and manager of the Bardahl VR46 Riders Academy team: “We are very satisfied with our riders and also with our bikes. However, we are evaluating how we should intervene in the regulations. Our KTMs are expensive and are 2019 models: So they are not the latest. We know that the development of Moto3 has been banned in the World Championship and we realize that within our borders it is difficult, if not impossible, to continue spending certain amounts. This is why we will have a meeting at VR46: We will evaluate how and if we should consider the idea of the 450, which is ideal in several aspects, including that of the budget. The very young need to stay in the saddle as much as possible and then, I think, in a possible move to the world championship they must always adapt. The grid must grow, we want as many children as possible at the start. »

When the financial aspect combines with performance and environmental development, there are no longer many obstacles left to take the plunge...

As a reminder, Johann zarco also owned a Beon 450cc, for training…
