The Gresini Racing team is taking advantage of the summer break to treat us to a subject not without interest regarding the creation of the Gresini MotoGP team which will field Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio next year.

Everything we have talked about so far would not be possible without the help of our partners, who are an integral part of the Gresini family. The commercial aspect of the activity is a fundamental pillar of Gresini Racing and has been managed for two decades by Carlo Merlini, director of sales and marketing.

From this point of view, it is a very important moment for the development of the project: Many sponsors of the Gresini family have already decided to make the jump to the premier category, and new ones are on the way, attracted by the incomparable field of MotoGP.

How does the MotoGP project look from a commercial point of view?
« Developing a budget for a project normally requires a lot of dedication and method. In our case, there were certain factors that certainly exacerbated the complexity of the work, and I put first all the enormous lack that we had to face in February, because it is a void that weighs heavily and which does not will never be filled. »
« Apart from this emotional aspect, there is also the importance of the budget to build when we are talking about a MotoGP level project. Furthermore, after seven years of joint venture with Aprilia, during which we essentially managed the racing operations at the track, we found ourselves having to rebuild the entry budget from scratch. The network of relationships that we put in place proved to be very useful and allowed us to develop very important dialogues, then manage to sign the contract with Ducati with a budget that had already taken shape. The independent team business model places a lot of emphasis on risk management and I have to say it's one of the biggest lessons I've learned in the 20 years I've worked alongside Falseto. »

New and “old” allies…
« The new Gresini MotoGP Team offers an invaluable opportunity to our partners established in the lower categories: the possibility of joining us in this project, of developing sponsorship in the premier category with all the implications that this offers, starting with the figures of television audience and media monitoring. Indeed, we have already announced that old acquaintances such as Federal Oil, Astra Otoparts, YouAll and Kapriol will be there. But it is obvious that a new page of the book to be written is also an opportunity for new partners to join the #gresinifamily: I would like to mention in this regard FlexBox, one of the first to join the Ducati Gresini MotoGP project , with a key role as title sponsor. »

Indonesia still plays a key role.
« It is well known that Gresini Racing has deep roots in Indonesia, and has done so for a decade now. It's a connection that arises from the fact that Indonesia, which has the largest number of fans in the world, is a key nation for the MotoGP universe. It has become the main foreign market for us where we have developed very important partnerships. Federal Oil, already the main sponsor of Gresini Moto2, took the opportunity to get involved in MotoGP, becoming the first ever Indonesian sponsor of the premier class. Astra Otoparts have also arrived and more will be announced soon. »
