During the second Supersport race of the French Superbike Championship this Sunday at Le Mans, a dramatic accident took place at 15:45 p.m.

From the first lap, Adrien Protat fell at the Dunlop footbridge.

The driver was immediately treated at the scene of the accident by doctors from the Automobile Club de l'Ouest medical service.

In serious condition, Adrien Protat was transferred to the Circuit Medical Center where he died shortly after his arrival from his injuries.

Adrien Protat, 27 years old, was from Lyon and was part of the FP Racing team.

The Automobile Club de L'Ouest and the French Motorcycling Federation, in agreement with the Race Direction and the race drivers' delegates, have suspended the remainder of the event.

The ACO and the FFM would like to express their great sadness following this tragedy and offer their deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Adrien Protat.
