On the occasion of Bikers' Classics, which will take place on July 1, 2 and 3, Bradley Smith, rider of Team Monster Yamaha Tech 3, will perform a few laps on the Spa-Francorchamps track aboard a Yamaha 500.

The British star, who will leave the Tech 3 team at the end of the season, will take this opportunity to thank Guy Coulon, his chief mechanic, for his collaboration and dedication during the 4 seasons spent with Tech 3 in the premier category. Smith will ride a Yamaha ROC YZR-500 two-stroke, owned by Jean-Marie Hérard and former mount of Belgian rider Laurent Naveau who took part in the 1993 world championship. The event, which will take place from July 1 to 3 , will feature more than 45 competitive motorcycles and stars from the two-wheel world. On this occasion, spectators will have the chance to travel through 40 years of MotoGP history in one and the same legendary location. Bradley Smith will be present for the evening event on Friday evening at 19:30 p.m., with Agostini and Sarron, before participating in the two parades on Saturday.

“Over the last six seasons, the Tech 3 team and I have built strong bonds, particularly thanks to Guy. He has been my chief mechanic in the premier category for the last 4 years and helped me achieve my goals. I will soon have the chance to ride a Yamaha 500 2 Stroke and Guy will be my chief mechanic. The Bikers'Classics had been on my bucket list for a long time. I've heard so many stories about the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit and the two-stroke era: I'll finally be able to experience it for myself. It will be a special moment because for a weekend I will follow Guy in his world and in his passion for classic motorcycles. »

“I am very happy that Bradley is taking part in this classic event on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit because it is a good way to spend some time with him outside of the MotoGP environment and without any pressure. We will also share one of my great passions: classic motorcycles and in particular classic Grand Prix motorcycles. Bradley will have the chance to ride a Yamaha 500 2-stroke and I think it will be the first time for him on this type of machine. Since his move to 125, he hasn't had much opportunity to ride a two-stroke. This bike is as legendary for him as it is for me. I think this type of machine is really special and, to be honest, I'm happy to see a young and trained rider in the race. The Yamaha has to be ridden smoothly and elegantly and, in these kinds of events, that's quite rare because the riders are often older and not as agile. So I think it will be an exciting experience for Bradley and a pleasure for everyone to see him on this bike. »
