The British Grand Prix is always an extremely important round for the LCR Honda team, but this weekend is even more special as it follows directly on from Cal Crutchlow's first ever MotoGP victory. during the Czech GP.

During his national event, the 30-year-old Briton will wear the colors of Rizoma, one of the loyal sponsors of the LCR team, for the third time this season. The Italian company specializes in the design and production of high-end accessories intended for the motorcycle market.

The Silverstone circuit opened its doors to the public this Thursday for the traditional “Day of Champions” which aims to raise funds for “Two Wheels for Life”, the official charity of MotoGP. During this event, the Coventry native was cheered by his fans who could not have been more delighted to see the first British driver to have triumphed in the premier category for 35 years.

The longest track on the MotoGP calendar will be a serious test for the LCR Honda team and Cal Crutchlow: it features a very high average speed, a bumpy surface and a variety of different corners that require very quick changes of direction. Perfect tuning will therefore be essential for the Honda RC213V in Rizoma colors. With the uncertainty surrounding the weather forecast over the coming weekend, the LCR driver is obviously hoping that the weather will remain dry to be able to put on the best possible show during the Grand Prix which is expected to be a sold-out event.

Cal Crutchlow #35

“Life hasn't changed much for me since Brno. I returned home and there were a multitude of bills that I still had to pay and of course my daughter's diapers that I had to change! But it was still a very enjoyable week in every way.”

“Things are going to be difficult here at Silverstone with a lot of expectations on me and the LCR Honda team after our victory but that won't change our habits in any way. Winning a race in the MotoGP category was a dream that took a long time to come true. We accomplished something truly special two weeks ago in the Czech Republic and I am extremely proud of it both for myself and for the team. Now it’s up to us to work diligently to repeat the same kind of feat this weekend!”

“I sincerely hope that the weather remains dry. Now everyone thinks that because we won a race in the wet we want it to rain in every event but we obviously prefer when the Grands Prix are contested in the dry. The game is not going to be easy but we will give the best of ourselves whatever happens in terms of weather conditions. During post-GP testing in Brno we found a little something with the machine settings but the question is whether it will have the same effectiveness here on a really bumpy surface. As usual, we will give our all 100%.”
